Your location

When you follow a route with GPS, your position stays on your phone: it is never sent to us. Only your progress (how far along the route you are, not where you are) is remembered on that phone.

When you buy a pass

We store your email address, the chosen language, the payment status and payment reference from Mollie, your code, how long it is valid and a random number per device (to apply the limit of 3 devices). We do not receive your bank or card details: Mollie handles those.

We use this only to deliver the pass, email you the code, help you with questions and prevent misuse. We do not send newsletters or advertising. We keep order details for 7 years because of the legal obligation to keep accounting records.

Cookies and storage on your device

We only use necessary cookies and storage:

  • gr_pass, gr_pass_info and gr_device: remember that this device has a valid pass (for the duration of the pass);
  • routes you save offline and your progress are stored on your own device; you can delete them via "Saved routes" or your browser settings.

No analytics, tracking or advertising cookies.

Services we use

  • Mollie (Netherlands): payments.
  • Resend: sending the email with your code (servers in the EU).
  • Supabase: database for routes and passes (servers in Frankfurt, Germany).
  • Vercel: hosting of the website.
  • OpenFreeMap: map tiles; your browser fetches these directly, so your IP address is visible to them.

Where a service is based outside the EU, data is only transferred with the safeguards required by EU law.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to its use. Email info@giethoorn.com; we respond within one month. Not satisfied with how we handle it? You can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
